CONSIDERATIONS

The time is NOW to speak up to preserve healthy ecosystems, today and for future generations. Add your voice.  Public pressure is what makes things change.

But how do you make your voice heard?

Ask local, regional and provincial government representatives to instate policies which prioritize and protect healthy ecosystems, including the following:

1)  place an immediate moratorium on logging old growth and primary forests,

2)  implement a government subsidized, just transition to more ecologically sustainable forestry practices,

3)  permanently protect old growth trees & primary ecosystems from being logged or otherwise impoverished or destroyed,

4)  in a timely manner, adopt the 14 recommendations put forward by scientists in BC's 2020 Old Growth Strategic Review, and which the government has already agreed to do.

TIME IS RUNNING OUT!

OTHER RESOURCES

To help conserve the area's natural heritage, you can nominate a tree to the BC Big Tree Registry.

Visit our page to learn why we think this is an important and useful tool for engaging in conservation.

If you know of any giant trees, ancient trees, special wildlife trees, or otherwise ecologically important trees, consider a nomination. The program is run through the faculty of forestry at the University of British Columbia.
